Prior to founding Inland Planning, Mara worked at the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) in multiple roles, most recently as the innovation manager directing TAP-IN Colorado - a program to connect the entrepreneurial and water sectors to tackle our region's water challenges. As the public engagement specialist, Mara oversaw the implementation of the public outreach, education, and engagement goals in Colorado’s Water Plan, facilitated nine statewide education workgroups, and managed the marketing and communications efforts for the agency. Mara received her B.A. in Environmental Studies at CU Boulder and her Master of Urban and Regional Planning at CU Denver.
Growing up in Colorado, Mara spent time exploring the outdoors and developing an appetite for adventure. This grew into a deep passion for protecting our natural world, which has guided her both professionally and personally.
Mara's life motto is, "Adventure is the name of the game;" she believes one of her parents' best decisions was to provide a "TV free" home while growing up; she is terrified of rock climbing but recently picked it up to overcome that fear; and she loves cruising around town in her Dad's roller blades from the 90s.
